The victim, identified as 35-year-old Sally Sitawa Saenyi, is reported to have been attacked at her home by Patrick Silali Barasa, also known as Jeff, a Nairobi-based taxi driver.
According to family accounts, the suspect had been persistently making romantic advances toward the deceased despite knowing she was married. Relatives further stated that the woman had previously raised concerns about threats to her safety, which she believed were linked to the suspect.
The family also alleges that these concerns were reported to authorities shortly before the incident, though they claim no immediate action was taken.
Investigators say the suspect travelled from Nairobi to Kitale, where the attack is believed to have occurred. The victim sustained fatal injuries during the incident and was later pronounced dead after being rushed to a nearby medical facility.
In a separate development, the suspect was later found dead in a lodging in Moi’s Bridge Township, a short distance from the scene of the crime. Police have confirmed both deaths and moved the bodies to the mortuary for preservation and postmortem examinations.
Authorities have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding both deaths, including the alleged prior threats and the timeline of events leading up to the incident.
The case has sparked renewed public concern over reports of domestic-related violence and raised questions about response to early warning signals in potential high-risk situations.
